About Lynn Marshall
I have been a registered mental health nurse for more than 35 years and a qualified adult education teacher since 2002.
Having originally trained as a nursery nurse, I chose to move into mental health partly due to my own experience of depression during my teenager years, but also because of the distress I had witnessed in the mothers I had cared for whilst working in a maternity hospital in a socially deprived area of London.
I was, and still am, fascinated by people and I wanted to learn more about how I could make a positive difference to people’s lives and help them to find peace and happiness.
Over the years I have worked in a wide variety of setting including lecturing part-time at the University of Lincoln, establishing a mental health employment and education project, leading on clinical policy and practice and managing my local NHS mental health trust’s serious incident investigation team.
In terms of my complementary therapy and training work, I have always been passionate about holistic care and the need to take in to account personal choice. However, I was unable to incorporate any of these skills in to my nursing role. So, in 2007 I decided to set up my own private practice offering massage, reflexology and reiki and it has grown over the years, adding a variety of talking therapies.
In my leisure time, I enjoy going to the gym, gardening, meals out, holidays in the sun, dogs and sheep.
I love my work, I love my life. I practice what I preach and teach, I laugh (a lot) and I genuinely wake up every day happy to be alive and enthusiastic about what the new day will bring and you can’t ask for more than that!
