Last night I watched a very interesting programme on BBC 2
“Can my brain cure my body?” in which the lovely Dr Michael Mosely carried out an experiment on 100 people from Blackpool with chronic severe back pain.
They were led to believe that they were taking part in a clinical trial whereby half of them would be taking a new miracle pain killer and the other half placebos.
As with such trials none of them would know which they were taking but they believed there was a 50/50 chance they were on the pain killers.
However, there was a twist with this study …. unknown to them, all of them were actually taking placebos!
After 3 weeks and the results were amazing with half of the group reporting a huge improvement and many being completely pain free. These were people who had been on strong medication for years, many unable to carry out day to day activities and complaining of severe pain. One man for example had been confined to a wheelchair and using morphine because of his back pain, but after 3 weeks on the placebos he was practically pain free and mobile again.
Now as you might know I offer a technique called “OldPain2Go” which is for chronic pain. In keeping with what Dr Mosely illustrated so well in the programme last night, there is a very strong mind/body connection with chronic pain and in some cases it can be successfully reduced and even eliminated just by working with the subconscious mind.
What I offer isn’t about placebo tablets it’s about communicating with the subconscious mind and getting it to let go of the old unnecessary pain message. I have worked with people who have been in severe pain for years and had spinal blocks injections that haven’t worked yet after just one session they have been immediately pain free. It only takes one session, two at the most and I am so confident about its effectiveness that if the pain hasn’t reduced by at least 50% by the end of the first session I don't charge anything.
It might sound too good to be true but as Dr Mosley has proved, sometimes it really is mind over matter!
